Chris:
I want to share with people. You and I are going down to Rutger Park. You are going to be interviewing the NBA legends down there.
I want you and Cindy to inspire other people. Make connections down there.
John:
(deleted garbled speech) For those of you listening, Chris is going to introduce us to Kenny Grant. He started in West Fourth Street in 1977. This is the greatest basketball arena.
Chris:
According to Nike, West Fourth Street and Rutger Park go back and forth, one and two every year.
John:
For those of you who are basketball buffs, you probably know all about this.
Chris:
West Fourth Street is a very small, confined court. It has a cage around it. It is not a regulation NBA court, like Rutger Park. If you can learn how to play basketball and refine your basketball skills at West Fourth Street, you can play anywhere.
You’re going to get elbowed a lot, muscled about, thrown into the fence, the cage. If you can survive there, and perfect your jump shot and perfect scoring underneath on such a small court, you can excel anywhere.
John:
Someone I met today said the exact same thing, but implying life. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.
Chris:
Kenny Graham gave me a nickname. It’s kind of funny, because I am like a pit bull on the court, and I keep going at people. He gave me a nickname as the assassin, because when I am on the court, I literally break arms if you get in my way. Literally, I knock people down who are 6 foot 8. Kenny starts laughing hysterically.
Every time I go down he says, “Chris, please don’t hurt anybody on the court.”
I believe in what you are doing, inspiring other people to be the best they can in life.
Cindy:
