Have you ever noticed someone going about, whistling as they’re going about their business?
Perhaps at the grocery store, the mall, the gas station, or even at your work?
They go about whistling and seem to be in the state of mind of contentness, or perhaps as if they are floating on a cloud.
If you catch their eye for a glimpse, just a moment, they seem to be in a very pleasant state. They never seem to be angry or upset or in a sullen mood.
You also notice this with children. The children just open up and start to sing, beautiful songs.
The songs that are lyrical and magical and they’re joyful. It’s as if they are in their own little space, oblivious to the world. Lost in space.
They are so lost in space, they don’t even hear their mom calling them.
Now, there are exceptions when mom says, “ice cream” or “cookies”, but other than that, there they are singing a song, “Row, row, row a boat, gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.”
And you’ll also notice if you go to the old folks, you’ll often hear them humming, songs of yesteryear.
And when they are doing it, they don’t seem to be upset. They don’t seem to be depressed. For that moment, when they are humming, it seems to bring them to a good spot.
So I ask you, “Are they whistling, singing, humming because they are happy?
Or are they happy because they are whistling, singing, humming.”
Either way, I say, “Stay joyful, stay young, and stay stress free.
Just whistle you work.”
