Imagine being so sure of an outcome, that it has to happen. In fact, to you it has already happened, as you look back from the future and see it so.
This is really fun, once you get into the mood and mindset.
We were looking for an ice cream shop. I decided we go to one with absolute certainty that I would be able to find some dairy-free, gluten-free snack nearby – I knew something would present itself. And it did – one store away was a deli that had fruit salad.
I assume that every situation has slightly hidden treasures scattered across it. But I have to believe they are there for them to appear.
It’s like reality is configured for me, if I put it out there what I expect, and I always expect something good – no, something amazing.
I start with small things. They build my confidence. I can do this!
For example, if I go into a restaurant, I picture a table available near a window. We get just such a table.
I like the idea that I am no longer taking the default reality, but rather declaring my preferences.
It’s like the placebo effect applied to everything, except, I am the one saying it’s true, rather than believing others – I am making up my own placebos everywhere.
I was in a bookstore once, and the scanner was just not registering the barcode of the book. The clerk looked at the scanner, said “please,” very kindly and patiently, and then he successfully scanned the book.
I deeply believe I have an effect on changing my reality, and I keep seeing that it works.
So, next time, if you want a table near the window, picture yourself sitting there, assume you were heard, and your preference welcomed, and see what happens.
