I'm Always Receiving

I was thinking in my life I wasn’t receiving things.

And I felt stuck.

And one day, a good friend of mine called me on the phone, and as we were talking, she said, “You’re not stuck. Try this. It worked for me, and I think it will work for you too. Try saying, ‘I am always receiving.’” I thought about it, and said, “What the heck, I’ll try it and see if it works.”

So the very next day when I woke up, the very first thing I said was, “I’m always receiving.”

That day when I went out with friends for chicken wings, which we do on everyone’s birthday, at the restaurant, we had the wings and celebrated. We all chipped in to pay the bill. And when the bill came, the waitress handed us each back our money and said, “Here’s your money back. Your bill’s been paid.” And we said, “What! Our bill’s been payed. This is amazing. By who?” And she said, “The person did not want to be identified.”

In all my times of going out for wings with my friends, this has never occurred.

So I sat there thinking, “Wow, this morning when I got up, I said, ‘I am always receiving,’ and now I had a dinner completely gifted to me.” I was amazed. I was blown away. Saying, “Does the universe really work like this?”

So I went on to develop this conscious attitude of everyday when I get up saying “I am always receiving.” And when I do that, I find that everyday something gets gifted to me. And I even started to keep track in a journal of all the wonderful blessings I get each and every day, from big to small. And it’s amazing to see that by saying something as simple as, ”I am always receiving,” and appreciating and recognizing, that more is given. It is very powerful. And I think it just works. I don’t know how it works, but I just know that it works.

And so I say, “I am always receiving.”
